Oppression comes in many forms. Denial of Freedom of expression is probably the most lacking throughout Asia. People are prevented from demonstrating, even though that right is enshrined within law, they are publicly beaten and intimidated. TV is controlled by the state and does not allow anything that may be critical of Government. Freedom of the Press is constrained.

Keeping people in poverty, without hope, health care and government services is just another form of oppression.
